The above photos are a random mix from various walks and visits to cafes and such in Brooklyn. There is a stack of new and new-old books waiting for me to be read before school starts. Nikhil surprised me with two great books - Getting Even by Woody Allen and Maira Kalman's new book And the Pursuit of Happiness. The former I'll make my way through one essay at a time - it's eccentric and funny in that typical Woody Allen way and the latter is a history lesson, art book, poetry and so much more. In the political climate we live in now it is nice to be reminded of the simple great things that Maira so effortlessly writes in her beautiful handwriting. She also makes me crave pies and cakes with all those luscious food paintings! mmm cake.
