Have you seen the Sundays are for Lovers book yet? The work is delicate, thoughtful, at times funny and always beautiful and the design complements it perfectly. I love all the books from Lines & Shapes and I like how this one's evolved to be more magazine style with a few or more words from each artist. My favorite thing about these books is that I can flip through them over and over and find new things each time I look.

The nighttime photo is from our last weekend in LA. We were walking home after spending another fun evening with our closest friends. It was probably 2 - 3 AM on a strangely foggy night. I love revisiting photos that I took when there was a lot going on in my head and needless to say, that was one of those nights. Like music, photos can sometimes bring up so much nostalgia and transport you to that exact moment. Those CA road trip photos do something similar to me.

Speaking of music, I will always associate The High Road by Broken Bells with the first few months of 2010. Before their album was released and before I even knew much about them, I had added that song to a little mixtape I made for my friends back in January. And it's June now and the album is on frequent repeat around here.

The weekend started on Friday with plenty of walking and eating of delicious foods around the city with Cali friends...so full and fun! The other highlight was seeing Erin again who I last saw back when we were both living in LA. She is so fabulous and inspiring to be around and talk to. I also saw Anna again and met Jessica who are both so sweet and so immensely talented. I was smiling for hours afterwards.
I also watched The Hangover (hilarious!) and topped it up with This is It which is fan-freaking-tastic. The music, the dancing, the energy and words are just MJ...he is his own genre of everything, a true artist.
I have a few new fabric ideas brewing and I am hoping I can get around to finishing some with all this energy from the weekend.

hello city

Most of these photos are from when we spent a hot sticky sunday walking around the city from the upper east side to the japan day in central park, a stroll by the reservoir, a quick stop at the guggenheim (for cool air), then the central park boathouse, whitney museum and got caught in a short burst of rain before making our way home. We have friends visiting from CA this weekend and I am so looking forward to touristing around the city with them. It's gonna be fun.

I picked up some more film today which had a few photos from our little vacation and here they are. It's nice to look at that calm scenery.

ps. The dessert is a banana gelato, peanut gelato with coffee bourbon sauce, chocolate crumble, caramel bananas, toasted meringue. Need I say more?

the lake

This beautiful (mostly private?) lake was across from where we stayed and we had it all to ourselves. It was gorgeous in the morning and even more spectacular at sunset.

down the river

We went rafting in the Delaware river and I took these photos with a 'waterproof' plastic camera. The water was amazing...the perfect temperature to be in on such a hot day. We parked the raft on a little island at one point on our 5 mile journey and went for a quick swim in the clear water. The river is so beautiful throughout and we could see rocks and pebbles on the floor and an abundance of fish swimming by us in the mostly knee deep water.

a weekend in the country

During our weekend trip to Livingston Manor we stayed at this beautiful inn, with two very lovely hosts and not one but two great, great danes! It was such a perfect getaway in a very bucolic setting, yet only two hours away from the city. Tiny towns, no chain restaurants, perfect summer swimming weather, delicious local/seasonal food, all make for a very relaxing little trip.
